A1 Different platforms for streaming

In groups of no more than 3 discuss and list the streaming platforms that you know.

There are a number of streaming platforms available to professional and budding streamers. The below list identifies the most commonly used and known.

Twitch.

The streaming service known as twitch began its life in 2011 as a spin-off from a general interest streaming platform known as Justin.tv. The platform itself rocketed to around 45 million viewers in the October of 2013 supposing its original platform. As of 2020, Twitch had 3 million broadcasters monthly, with 15 million active users daily

Above is an image of the twitch studio that is used to enable broadcasters to select a number of sources to be included within their streams. Examples of things that can be included in the streams are; images, sounds, overlays, camera feeds, screen feeds, windowed application feeds and a number more. 

 

Mixer.

 

YouTube.

Youtube is one of the world's largest video streaming platforms with an estimated 2 billion users monthly watching some sort of video. The platform has local versions of the service in over 100 different countries and covers numerous languages. The Youtube platform is the second most visited website in the world behind is parent company google.

The daily viewing hours on the platform is estimated at over a billion which suggests that over 5 billion videos on average have been viewed. the most popular video currently (Jan 2023) is Baby Shark with just over 10 Billion views.

A2 Different streaming software

When looking to create a stream users have access to a number of different software platforms that can enable the recording of the users screen's audio outputs, mic inputs and an extensive amount of other features and functions. These pieces of software are, in the most part free. 

Software:

o OBS

one of the most commonly known and used software platforms OBS was 

o Raptr

o FFSPLIT

o Discord

o Xsplit.

 

Terms and conditions.

 

Streaming management software, e.g. stream chat, emotes, direct address, alerts, followers.
