Week 3
In this week's content we will be looking at technology, people and ethics: evaluating competing viewpoints through a realistic Level 3 IT context. You will be required to compare contrasting viewpoints about automated decision-making and write a balanced judgement for an organisation.
Steps to complete:
1. Identify bias, evidence and loaded wording in the learner-prepared claims.
2. Annotate two contrasting viewpoint texts on automated decisions, identifying claims, evidence, assumptions and tone.
3. Apply the arguments to four workplace scenarios involving monitoring, shortlisting, personalisation and accessibility.
4. Build a grid of similarities, differences and strength of evidence.
5. Write a 350-word response judging when automation should and should not replace human judgement.
