Week 8
In this week's content we will be looking at social media in business: audience, platform and purpose through a realistic Level 3 IT context. You will be required to advise a fictional small business on which social channels fit its audiences and objectives rather than choosing platforms by popularity.
Steps to complete:
1. Match fictional platforms to audience/purpose cards and justify choices.
2. Read “A platform is not a strategy” and annotate its key argument and evidence.
3. Compare four fictional channel profiles for audience, content format, discoverability, moderation and analytics.
4. Identify North Pier Makers objectives, constraints and audience needs.
5. Write a 350-word platform recommendation comparing at least two options.
6. Check that recommendations are based on client needs and not assumptions about age or identity.
By the end of the session you should have an audience/platform comparison grid and a justified social-media channel recommendation.
