Week 21

In this week's content we will examine what makes an online esports community welcoming, exclusive or somewhere in between. You will be required to analyse different viewpoints and create principles for a more inclusive fan space.

Steps to complete:

1. Take part in the student-led community-voices task.

2. Read the two texts and identify each writer's viewpoint about fandom or online community.

3. Map the values, assumptions, intended audience and significant language choices in each text.

4. In your group, create a community charter with clear principles and a reason for each one.

5. Write a 300-word magazine response to the statement “Online esports communities are only as welcoming as their members make them.”

6. Use evidence and counterargument rather than making unsupported claims.

7. Proofread for tone and inclusivity.

By the end you will have a community charter and a developed viewpoint article.
