Week 4
In this week's content we will create a piece of imaginative writing based around a tense esports final. You will be required to plan a short narrative, control suspense and use description, viewpoint and sentence variety to make the scene engaging.
Steps to complete:
1. Analyse a model extract and notice how tension is created through imagery, viewpoint and sentence length.
2. Plan a five-stage story arc: opening, build-up, turning point, climax and controlled ending.
3. Decide whose viewpoint the reader will follow and what that character wants.
4. Draft 500-650 words, focusing on atmosphere and reactions rather than explaining every game mechanic.
5. Highlight places where you have used imagery, structural shifts and sentence variety.
6. Edit weak vocabulary, punctuation and repetitive sentence openings.
By the end you will have a complete, redrafted creative-writing response suitable for Paper 1 practice.
