Week 6

In this week's content we will compare contrasting viewpoints on the question “Is esports a sport?” You will be required to read two sources carefully, identify each writer's position and compare how their ideas and methods differ.

Steps to complete:

1. Listen to the neutral student briefing and note the key question.

2. Read both sources and identify each writer's main viewpoint.

3. Highlight evidence, tone, assumptions and persuasive language.

4. Complete a comparison grid showing similarities and differences in ideas and methods.

5. Judge which claims are strongly evidenced, weakly evidenced or mainly opinion.

6. Write a comparative paragraph using quotations or precise references from both sources.

7. Record your own view in the exit poll and justify it briefly.

By the end you will have a completed comparison grid and an exam-style comparison response.
